The urban furniture and the personality of a city

For most people, urban furniture is part of the things that are always there, but that go unnoticed every day. We walk daily among bins, benches, fountains, parks and other elements, without realizing the effect they have on our subconscious.

However, the design of the urban elements of the place we live could indicate details of even our personality. It may seem like a fantasy, but it is reality. You will find why on the following lines.

The importance of urban furniture

Some studies show that cities (or even neighborhoods in the case of a big city) have their own character. In this way people choose where they want to be inhabitants because they feel attracted to one neighborhood or another depending on their characteristics.

What influences the character of a neighborhood or a city? Without any doubt, its history, its commercial life, its communication… but also its urban furniture. In what way? We illustrate it with a real example.

According to a study conducted in London by more than 50.000 people, the character of people and their predominant qualities vary from place to place. Each participant answered a series of questions related to their attitude to life and preferences. They had to indicate their zip code. Thanks to their answers, it was determined that the inhabitants of a place were more open to ecological ideas and change, while others had more traditional values, among other traits.

Think about it. Who does not identify forging benches with historic neighborhoods while those that are colorful and recycled are associated with new neighborhoods where young people abound? These details are no coincidence: the urban elements influence the character of the neighborhood and its inhabitants.

In Grup Fábregas we offer the Town Halls a very wide catalog of urban furniture to adapt to the character of their cities.
