WPC picnic tables
At Barcelona’s Hospital Clínic
At the Barcelona Faculty of Medicine, located within the historic Hospital Clínic complex, we have contributed to the refurbishment of an outdoor seating area. As the space is used daily by students and teaching staff, the project required a durable, functional solution capable of blending in with the architectural character of the surroundings.
The chosen solution also needed to be environmentally friendly, reflecting the institution’s commitment to sustainability, and require minimal maintenance. The selected model was the E-PICNIC-WPC picnic table, a solution that combines design, durability and sustainability.
A Durable Material for Demanding Environments
This picnic table and backless bench set is made from WPC (Wood Plastic Composite), a material that combines recycled plastic and biomass to create a fully recyclable, environmentally friendly product.
Another key benefit of this material is its excellent resistance to weather conditions and intensive use, making it particularly suitable for university environments.
Accommodating between six and eight people, the set provides a practical space to sit, eat, meet or simply take a break during the day.
A Design That Blends Seamlessly into Its Surroundings
Blending in with the surroundings was another key consideration in this project. The Faculty of Medicine is housed in an early 20th-century building characterised by its classical architecture.
The wood-effect finish and simple, functional design of the tables create a natural connection between the building’s architecture and the surrounding green spaces, without detracting from its architectural character.
Thanks to this project, the outdoor area now offers a comfortable seating space designed to meet the demands of daily university life. The tables provide seating for groups, while the durability of WPC ensures they remain functional in an outdoor environment subject to continuous use.
At Grup Fábregas, we develop urban furniture solutions that combine sustainability, durability and design to suit spaces with a wide range of requirements, while respecting both their functionality and the character of their surroundings.
